Community members gathered at @malcolmxmemorial to bus down to Lincoln in protest Legislative Bill 147, to change the Student Discipline Act to provide for use by a teacher or administrator of necessary physical contact or physical restraint and provide procedures and grounds for removal from a class in response to student behavior.”
Schmeeka Simpson, NOISEmaker and mother of 3 said, “I feel that there are more positive ways that we can help our teachers and reinforce positive behavior in the classroom,other than giving blanket immunity to teachers for restraining our children.”
The legislature debated the bill and it did not pass. It was introduced by Senator Groene.
