Part two of the conversation focuses on personal change and community support.

Part three of the conversation scratches the surface of complex issues of racial gaps in mental health care. Photo: Murals in honor of James Scurlock, killed in the protests of late May 2020.

“This year has been thick”, says Ashley Salem, NOISEmaker, mother, and mediation leader. Ashley has been part of the NOISE team for two years and through her community interviews has gained a reputation for digging deep into the human experience of the headlines.

This week as our nation heads to the polls, we’ve prepared a 3 part mini-series of Ashley Salem’s interview program, Adjusting. Ashley sits down with Eric Purcell, community leader in the Gifford Park neighborhood, life coach, and spiritual guide. Eric is also one of the owner/managers of the Myrtle and Cypress Coffee House, which has as its namesake two plants symbolizing transformation and rebirth. This year, Ashley also started her own business for coaching and guided meditation called Benevolence available on YouTube and Instagram.

So, inspired by this year of both immense trauma and transformation for our community, we hope this mini-series offers comfort through conversation over this week as election results roll in.

Check this page on November, 3rd, 4th, and 5th for new segments of their conversation released as daily antidotes to the stressors brought on by 2020 that may feel more intense during the election week.
