Urban Development Might Get Boost with Study by Nebraska Legislature

State Senator Megan Hunt introduced Legislative Resolution 126, which proposes an interim study to examine issues related to urban development in municipalities, and it could initiate art districts. Senator Hunt will have a public hearing next Wednesday, October 16 at 4:00 pm, located at Metropolitan Community College South Campus.

Senator Hunt says, “LR 126 is designed to identify ways to spark development and growth by building upon existing arts and cultural communities and finding a way for our state to recognize their value. We need to embrace the amazing grassroots artists in Nebraska for how much excitement, economic development opportunities, and cultural vibrancy they bring to neighborhoods in Nebraska."

Megan Hunt represents the 8th legislative district in Omaha, which includes Benson, Keystone, and the midtown neighborhoods of Dundee. She was elected to the unicameral in 2018. Hunt is also the co-owner of Hello Holiday, a clothing boutique store.
